March 8, 2017. To the beach!

LOCATION:  Carolina Beach, North Carolina.   A cute inn  - Carolina Beach Inn.

WEATHER:  Beautiful. High 75

We said goodbye to the homeowners where we have been housesitting in Davidson, close to Charlotte, NC, and drove about 4 hours to the beach.

On our way, we drove through different landscapes.  As we got closer to the coast, it was all tall pines and sandy soil.  We passed this crazy house where they make and sell huge yard art.  Who wants a life-size red cow in front of their house?

We stopped in Wilmington to try a beer at one of their many breweries here.  This one is in a converted warehouse in the historic downtown area.

From Wilmington, we drove about 10 miles to Carolina Beach.  It is a cute little beach town with a boardwalk.  Now, off season, it is reallly quiet.  Many of the shops are not open yet.  In the summer, they say the place really hops.  We prefer being in places like this when others are not.  We are lucky with the weather....just beautiful.

We strolled on the boardwalk gazing at the waves.

We stopped and chatted with some commercial fishermen in the inlet.

For dinner, we walked to a wonderful restaurant just a block from our inn.  We shared two appetizers, a crab dip and an absolutely delicious small plate of served ahi.
