March 7, 2017. Last day at the lake

LOCATION:  House-sitting in Davidson, North Carolina on Lake Norman

WEATHER:  Nice.  Highs near 60

We were jolted awake by the cats banging at our door, begging for breakfast.  We had moved into the guest room and they know how to open the bedroom door by jumping up, pulling on the latch, and throwing their weight to open the door. Of course, we had to obey, and fed them their breakfast.

Had it snowed overnight?  When we walked around our condo complex, we saw this.....

Although it looked like snow flakes piled under the trees, it is actually Bradford pear flower petals fallen from the trees.

The morning was full of computer work, making arrangements for travel between Scotland, Italy and France. We are going to fly one leg, but take the train for all the other trips.  Hopefully, we can see more of the countryside that way.  We will have a few days to explore Edinburgh, Paris, Rome and Milan between housesitting assignments.

We heard from our tiny house agent about closing. We will be busy in a few days when we visit the house, tying up details. We feel, however, that we have made a mistake.  We just learned about Jimmy Buffet's new Margaritaville Retirement Village outside Daytona, Florida.  Why didn't we build there instead?

Just joking!!!! (Although we did read about it today)

The homeowners returned in the afternoon.  As they were busy unpacking, we made ourselves scarce and ran some errands in town. Then, we went to "The Cottage", the delightful wine shop next to the marina in our development, for a glass of wine.
It was warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the view.
You can buy wine by the glass here, or for a better deal, buy a bottle at retail store prices.  They don't charge a corkage fee, so it is a really good deal.  You can take home the bottle if you don't drink it all.
What a nice way to end our stay on beautiful Lake Norman!   DINNER:  I prepared spaghetti and meatballs for the homeowners' return.  We had a nice dinner conversation.  They are great travelers, so we have lots in common.
