March 17, 2017. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

LOCATION:  Limerick, Ireland

WEATHER:  Brutal.....cold, rainy and windy.  Guess we are in Ireland!

After sleeping in to recuperate from jet lag, we walked to the Main Street, only a few blocks from our Airbnb.  People were preparing for the parade; the fountains were spraying green water.

We fortified ourselves with a "full Irish breakfast" which included white pudding, black pudding, bangers, etc.  This was enough for both breakfast and lunch....for both of us!

While eating, we looked over the town's brochure outlining the activities for the day.

The parade started at noon.  They estimated that 80,000 would be in attendance.

As soon as the parade started, George wanted to leave as he was cold.  We did get quite wet in the cold rain.

The parade lasted about an hour. It was fun to watch, with lots of local clubs, bands and companies. Even Cinderella!

We tucked into our favorite pub to warm up and to enjoy a Guinness.

There was a group playing traditional music

From there, we went to another pub for dinner.  Called "The Locke", it faces the river and dates back 200+ years.  We had a seafood pie....a casserole full of seafood in a white sauce, topped with mashed potatoes.  Really tasty.  Hit the spot.

This pub had music, too.

They even had traditional Irish dancing. This gal was great.  Then, locals got up and danced, too.

What a great way to spend St. Patrick's Day!
