March 9, 2017. On to the Research Triangle

LOCATION: Raleigh/Cary, North Carolina.

WEATHER: Summer-like.  High 78

We enjoyed our last hours at the beach in the town of Carolina Beach.  We walked along the boardwalk, watching the waves.

We headed back to Wilmington, about 30 minutes away,  for lunch.  We parked and strolled around the historic downtown.  We ate an oyster po-boy sandwich at an outdoor cafe.
Wilmington is full of beautiful Victorian homes, especially pretty now with the azaleas blooming.

We drove about 3 hours to Cary, a suburb of the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill metropolitan area called the Research Triangle.  We are staying at a Marriott Hotel here where I am using my loyalty points that I earned from work travel.  The points were about to expire, so we found this hotel to use them up.

The hotel is next to a center with about 15 different restaurants.  It was so nice not to have to drive back on the busy freeways.  We ate delicious sushi at a Japanese restaurant.  The sushi master is Japanese, but all the other sushi-makers were happily speaking Spanish.
