March 16, 2017. But first....a Guinness!

LOCATION:  Limerick, Ireland

WEATHER:  Overcast, misty, highs in 50s......typical Irish weather

We flew 8 hours overnight from Houston to London, arriving at 6:00 AM.  The flight wasn't too bad, just a little bumpy, so the seat-belt light was on most of the flight.  That means that we couldn't get up and stretch much.

We had about a 4-hour layover in Heathrow.  The terminal has lots of upscale shops.

From Heathrow, we had a 1-hour flight to Shannon, Ireland.  As soon as we arrived, we caught a bus to Limerick.  A kind man sat next to me, and gave me instructions on how to find our AirB&B and a suggestion (at George's request) for a good pub.

In Limerick, we made a bee-line for the pub and ordered up a Guinness, of course.  We ordered a bap for lunch, not knowing what we would get.  It was a type of sandwich.  Very good.

We had two hours to kill before we could check into our accommodation, so the bartender stored our backpacks for us, and we strolled around the town.  There is a neat castle on the river...

Although the weather is typical Irish, everything is green and flowers are blooming.  We found another pub, this time for a Beamish.  (George was doing a taste comparison).

Guinness is big business here.  Lots of cute signs.

Our AirB&B is just a guy's spare room in an apartment.  It is clean and meets our needs.  After we got settled in, we took a nap, then went out on the town again.  The pub was hopping, as tomorrow is a bank holiday, St. Patrick's Day, so people were starting to celebrate already.  We had French onion soup and talked with some partying guys.

An early night, to be ready for St. Patrick's Day tomorrow!
