February 6, 2017. Crossing the swamp through Louisiana

CAMPGROUND:  Buccaneer State Park.  Full hook-ups. No wifi.  Huge state park.  Probably crazy busy in the summer, with a water park.  $24.  8 stars.  Decent showers and bathrooms.  Picnic table and grill.

LOCATION:  Waveland, Mississippi

WEATHER:  Nice.  Highs in 60s

We left Betty's RV with a lot of friendly good-bye waves and good wishes from the RVers.  We headed east.  We had to drive through New Orleans.  (I hid my head).  We didn't stop as we have visited there before.

We think Louisiana must have more elevated highways than any other state.  We drove across the state over swamps, rivers and lakes.
Lots of swamps!
We drove about 4 hours and stopped at this state park that someone had recommended.  The park had been destroyed in Hurricane Katrina and now has been totally rebuilt.  It is right on the Gulf of Mexico.

We rode our bikes along the boardwalk.

DINNER:  I had bought some andouille sausage while we were in Cajun country.  We sautéed chunks in the iron skillet over the BBQ grill, then added rice and some of the leftover Texas caviar.  It was really good.  It is so nice to be able to cook outside.
