February 10, 2017. Across the state of Florida

CAMPGROUND:  Compass RV Park.  Full hook-ups.  Wifi, cable.  Great bathrooms.  Very friendly staff that guide you to your site. All wonderful except the price.  $50/night.  The state park here, as well as most of the commercial parks are full.  Busy Florida season.  8 stars.   LOCATION:  St. Augustine, Florida

WEATHER:  Sunny but cool. Highs in 60s

We sadly left St. George island, a beautiful place, and crossed back to the mainland.
A really long, new bridge.

Today's destination is St. Augustine, all the way across the state.  We drove through back roads, through lots of pine forests.  It was a 6-hour drive from St. George Island...

To the east coast.....

(Wish I could figure out how people show their routes in photos)

We stopped mid-way along the famous Suwannee River for a picnic lunch.  The hanging Spanish moss is so pretty.

We met a former Mayo Clinic work colleague and his wife for dinner.  We went to a nearby Mexican restaurant.  Traffic is so bad here that we didn't want to go far.  So nice to get together with friends along the way.  Tomorrow and Sunday we are meeting with more friends, people we knew when we lived in Gainesville, Florida.  Then on Monday, we are reuniting with my brother who lives here in St. Augustine, his family, and my aunt and uncle from Alberta, Canada.  Fun!

Back at the RV park, we caught up on emails.  We received a photo from our tiny house builder in Texas.  They sent a picture of breaking ground today.

It's hard to read in the picture, but the sign has our names as the future homeowners.
