January 11, 2017. A reunion with walking sticks

CAMPGROUND:  Another night at Voyager RV Resort

LOCATION:  Tucson, Arizona

WEATHER:  Beautiful.  Highs about 70

Today's destination was Tubac, a cute artists' community about 50 miles from Tucson.  Last year, when we thought we were going to sell our Airstream, we had stored our walking sticks and a backpack full of camping goodies for our friends Tony and Jenny to pick up.    It turned out that they didn't make it to Tubac, so arranged for a friend of a friend to keep them at her house.  Today, we stopped by and picked up the goodies.  We had forgotten what we had left.  In addition to the walking sticks, there was an iron skillet, some travel books, bungee cords and the always-important roll of duct tape.

We had lunch in Tubac, a really cute town.  We had ribs at a place known for its good BBQ.

In addition to many art galleries in Tubac, there are lots of shops to buy Mexican ceramics and artwork.  Next to Tubac is one of the missions established by the Jesuits, then Franciscans, from Spain in the 1700s.

We toured the mission, then returned to Tucson.  On our way, we had to stop at one of the immigration checkpoints.  They seem to rely on profiling as they check cars.

Back at the RV park, we had planned to swim or take advantage of one of the sports amenities such as this tennis court, but we ran out of time.

We had arranged to meet up with our friends again.  They came over, then they went to a Mo-Town concert in one of the dance halls here at the resort.

DINNER:  Yet another meal with the rotisserie chicken leftovers.  I made chicken soup from the carcass, and added veg and rice.  It hit the spot on a cool evening.  This makes meal #4 from the $7 rotisserie chicken, plus frozen chicken breast chunks to use later for sandwiches.  Cheap eating!
