CAMPGROUND: Another night at Prince Rupert RV Park
LOCATION: Prince Rupert, British Columbia
WEATHER: Rainy and cool.
Since it was too rainy to take a walk, we drove around the town and the surrounding bays. On our way out of our RV park, we saw 2 deer and this buck munching on the park's flowers.
There are a lot of seaplanes in the air. We stopped at their dock; none are flying today as the clouds are too low.
We parked in the small downtown area called Cow Bay. Years ago, some farmer docked his boat full of cows here and the cows roamed all over the area munching on grass. We browsed in some tourist shops, then had an appetizer at a Japanese restaurant. We had local salmon and salmon roe (ikura) sushi. It was beautifully prepared.
Then, we shared another salmon and scallop sushi pieces. Yum - my favorite food!!!
With appetite whetted, we strolled along the waterfront to Smiles Restaurant, named after a friendly waitress with smiles for everyone, back in the early 1900s.
Then, back to the brewery to talk with more locals. There are some real characters here. Today we sat next to a guy that had just bought a boat, and was proudly showing photos to everyone. Then, he got off on a tangent about doomsday. Interesting....
Back at the campground, Bald and Baldier (aka George and Tony) grilled elk burger to go into pasta sauce.
Tony fixed us a Bloody Maria, tequila and Clamato juice to sip on while we cooked. Then, he put everything together and we enjoyed salads and pasta with elk burger in their camper. Very cozy.
Fun night, again.
Looks cold and ominous. Time to head south for warmth!
