August 8, 2017. Animals on the road!

LOCATION:  Housesitting in Boise, Idaho

WEATHER:  Hot in Boise - 95; Cool in mountains - 65

Today we drove up to the Boise Mountains.  The temperature started to drop on the car thermometer almost immediately.  We followed beautiful rivers.  Since it is mid-week, we had the road to ourselves.  No one was rafting or fishing in the rivers.  It was really pristine.

This is a photo from the internet.  I did not take photos as the visibility was not too good.  The air is still quite hazy from forest fires in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.  It looks something like this....

We stopped at a mountain pub for some delicious chili.  The road was very twisty.  Unfortunately, there have been lots of forest fires in the past and lots of pine trees were left standing, all burned up.

A deer jumped out on the road, so we drove cautiously.  There were lots of signs to watch for falling rocks.  At one point, we had to stop while highway workers cleared a tree that had fallen across the road.  We spotted several tiny squirrels zipping across the highway.  Then, with lots of excitement, we saw a bear crossing the road.  Again, this is not my photo, as I couldn't get to my ipad fast enough.  But, this is exactly how it looked.  Believe me!

Back home, we played with the dogs.  Then, we went to a nearby brewery to enjoy a pint.  They have unusual beers like jalapeno lager and orange IPA.  We stayed with some standards - a regular IPA and a Scotch ale

DINNER:  I made some chicken veg pasta to use up the leftover grill chicken from the other night.
