August 18,, 2017. Glaciers and rain

CAMPGROUND:  Prince Rupert RV Park.  Nice bathrooms, laundry, full hook-ups.  Picnic tables.  Muddy.  $39US.  3 out of 5 stars

LOCATION:  Prince Rupert, British Columbia

WEATHER:  Cool and rainy.  Highs about 60

It rained during the night.  It is always neat to hear the rain dancing on top of the Airstream, while feeling snug and warm inside.  When we woke up and looked outside, we saw that the rain we had in the valley overnight was snow in the mountains.

We drove 215 miles today, through mountains with glaciers clinging to their sides.  Beautiful.  It rained most of the day, though.  Lots of waterfalls spraying off the sides of the mountains.

We spied a brewery in a small town so stopped there for a half pint and a piece of locally-made beef jerky and called that lunch.

Our friends Tony and Jen had already set up when we arrived here in Prince Rupert.  We quickly hooked up to electricity, and then gathered inside their new trailer for a beer and to catch up.  It is great to be with them again.

We grilled the elk steaks that our homeowner in Boise had kindly given us.  We grilled them over a charcoal fire under the trailer awning, as it was still raining.  The steaks turned out great.  There is a burn ban in the entire province of BC, even though it is rainy and wet here in the northern part.  So, we couldn't make a campfire.

DINNER:  Grilled steaks, potato salad and sautéed cabbage.
