December 3, 2016. To Detroit!

LOCATION:  Visiting daughter Meredith in Ferndale, Michigan

WEATHER:  Cloudy and cool.  High about 50

We said good-bye to Portland.  Our next house-sit is mid-December in the Virgin Islands, so we are staying with our daughter and her husband in a Detroit suburb until then.

We took the red-eye from Portland.  The airport has a Rogue Brewery, so we had a last taste before departure.
We had a 5-hour layover in Las Vegas.  I have never been in the Las Vegas airport. The airport is right downtown, so the landing is pretty spectacular.  All the high-rise hotels (including the Trump Hotel) appear just yards from the runway.  The inside of the terminal is filled with slot machines.  This is what greets passengers as they disembark....
Now at our daughter's house, we helped her finish decorating the tree.
"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.....".
We will be here about 10 days.  As new homeowners, they have a long list of "to-dos" for George and me.  It is nice to be with her again.  We haven't had a traditional Christmas for several years.  We will celebrate with a dinner and opening of gifts before we leave for St. John.   DINNER:  A disappointing chicken sandwich at the Las Vegas airport.
