December 21, 2016. Lazy living in St. Thomas

LOCATION:  Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas, US Virgin Islands

WEATHER:  As with most days....some showers, but mostly sunny. Highs about 90

We lounged around the house in the morning, drinking our coffee on the deck.  George spotted a huge iguana munching on the foliage....

In the late afternoon, we drove down to one of the marinas.  It is fun to watch the really wealthy people.  I just cannot fathom the wealth that some people must have with these yachts, their crew, the maintenance, etc.

We sat at Tickles Dockside Grill to people-watch and yacht-watch.  There was a huge freighter-type ship loaded with yachts, bringing them here for the winter.  Someone told us it costs $1500/foot to transport these.

The harbor is full of yachts, sailboats, cruise ships, and ferries....

This is the ferry we took the other day to Water Island...

We had a drink at the bar and chatted with some locals.

We watched the Westin Resort ferry bringing their customers back from their resort on St. John.  St. John does not have an airport.  So, the tourists land in St. Thomas, are whisked to this marina from the airport, then board this private ferry to St. John.  The rates there at the Westin are $800-$1000/night.  These tourists were ending their trip and were on their way to the airport.

The marina is set up to service yacht owners docked in the marina for a few days.  There is a fancy grocery store there where they stock up.  We snooped around a bit...
Back home, since it was cooler outside, we sat on the deck and watched the planes land below.

DINNER:  Cheesy vegetables over rice.  Nothing fancy.
