December 11, 2016. The snow is not fun anymore!

LOCATION:  Ferndale, Michigan WEATHER:  More snow. Mostly overcast. Highs in 20s

It snowed another 8 inches or so overnight.  Schools are closed.  The roads are still pretty slippery   I tackled shoveling again.  First, I uncovered the cars under a blanket of snow.  Then the driveway.  I was pretty tired, but feeling pretty good, until I saw the huge pile of snow that the snow plow had deposited in front of the driveway. It is heavy, too. The novelty of snow and shoveling snow has worn thin already.

But, the finished product looks good....notice the clean sidewalk!

Our December mail packet arrived.  Receiving monthly mail is always a treat.  We even received a few Christmas cards.  We spent the next several hours processing business things from the mail.

Suffering from a bit of cabin fever, George and I walked to town for a late lunch.  Most of the sidewalks were shoveled, but some areas were pretty nasty.  Without snow boots, our feet got a bit cold and wet.  We had a half-price pizza at one of the restaurants, and brought leftovers home.  We stopped at a pub called "One-Eyed Betty" where a newly-released Founders bourbon barrel breakfast stout had just been put on tap.  George really enjoyed it.

On the way home, George got really cold and wanted to call for a pick-up, but we carried on.

Meredith served some unusual dinner items.  She made an avocado purée as a starter.  Then, a stir-fry using some interesting mushrooms we had bought at the Japanese store, some truffles, arugula, tomato, and onion.  I'm pretty sure there were some jalapeños in there somewhere, too.
