December 10, 2016. An early Christmas Eve

LOCATION:  Ferndale, Michigan

WEATHER:  Overcast.  Cold. Highs around 30

After a quiet morning, we went out for lunch and a beer  at Dragonmeade Brewery nearby.

It really has an English pub feeling.  They have 75 beer and mead recipes.  A lot on tap!  We shared a tasting platter.

We drove around downtown Ferndale, where they were having an ice sculpture festival.

There were about 40 sculptures in front of businesses, and Santa and his reindeer were getting pictures taken in a big tent.

Back home, we made a fire in the fireplace.  Very cozy.

Since we won't be here on the 25th, we had a pretend Christmas Eve.  We each opened one gift.  For a family who promised not to buy any gifts for each other, we did pretty well!

DINNER:  I made an Italian stew with sausage, kale and lentils.  George and Meredith had made some bread, so we had that with it, along with a great salad by Meredith.
