LOCATION: Abbeville LA
WEATHER: Warm and sunny, Highs in 70sImprovising on a shrimp and grits recipe, we had leftover crawfish tails and grits with eggs for breakfast. How Cajun!
We drove to a nearby town to watch the shrimp boats at the dock. We had bought large shrimp yesterday for $4.99pound, thinking that we got a good deal, but they were $3.50 here. Wow!
George is happy with the cheap gas prices, as little as $1.87/gallon here in Texas and Louisiana.
Lunch was shrimp cocktail at the RV park, followed by a trip to the laundry.
.
Then, about 4:30, the RV park group gathered at Betty's patio for a Super Bowl party. I made Texas caviar which turned out really well. Betty had cooked up a storm for us. Her cousin caught a catfish yesterday, so she fried up some catfish nuggets. I normally don't like catfish that much but being so fresh, they were really good. Betty has scattered Mardi Gras beads all around her knick-knacks in the the patio area. For the Super Bowl feast, in addition to the catfish nuggets, Betty also prepared jambalaya, spaghetti, sliders, andouille-stuffed chicken breasts, chicken wings, and deviled eggs. The RVers brought chips and dip, etc. What a feast! Somone organized a betting game, and George won $25!
