February 1, 2017. On to Austin

CAMPGROUND:  Pecan Grove RV Park.  Almost all are permanent sites.  The manager told us that most of the people have lived here 30 years!  Lots of retro campers, including several Airstreams, some new and some ancient.  Not very nice showers.  Full hook-ups.  $45/night.  But, location, location location!  We are downtown Austin right on the "funky entertainment row". 8 stars

LOCATION:  Austin, TX

WEATHER:  Beautiful.  Sunny. Highs about 80

We stayed in Beesville until mid-morning, waiting for the dense fog to lift.  We drove on some back roads, through oil country.  Oil drilling equipment everywhere.

Unfortunately, we had to drive through a lot of road construction.  Then, we hit a major highway, where cars whizzed by.....

We stumbled upon a super delicious BBQ joint in a little town.  We learned that it is the oldest same-family owned BBQ place in Texas.
The meat carver served customers up sausage, brisket, and/or ribs.  We couldn't believe the mammoth portions some people ordered.
We arrived in traffic-choked Austin and found our RV park. It has a super location.  We will be here 2 nights.  We met up with our friend Heather from Michigan/Minnesota who is staying here in Austin for a month.  We met up in a BBQ/brewpub that is about 30 feet from our RV park.  From there, we went to another brewpub where there was an excellent music group.
It was fun watching the people dance the Texas 2-step. Some couples seemed professional. We split a muffuletta for dinner.  Great evening!
