November 6, 2016. Walking tour of Salt Spring Island

LOCATION: Salt Spring Island, British Columbia WEATHER:  Cloudy, but no rain!  Highs in 50s   We awoke to a nice view from our motel.
Today was a day full of walking.  First we walked from our last night's motel back into town.  It was about a mile hike, but all down hill.....thank goodness, since we were carrying our backpacks.   We will be staying at the Salt Spring Inn for the next two nights, a cozy inn in the middle of the town. We dropped off our luggage, then started a hike toward the other end of the island.  George wanted to stop at this pub for a toilet break.
It rains a lot here and many of the roofs have moss growing on them.
We continued hiking and stopped at this cidery.  We sampled their dry apple, elderberry and hopped apricot ciders.  Very pleasant!
Back in town, we rested in our inn, recuperating from our 6-mile walk.  Then, we strolled around the harbor and had oysters at an oyster bar.  The juicy, tangy oysters were from Vancouver Island.
The outdoor seating with a fire, right next to the marina, was nice.
We walked another kilometer, back to the pub for dinner.  There was a terrific band playing Brazilian and Latin music. I was transported to Argentina or or someplace.  Really good music.
We shared a pork sandwich with a black cod chowder.
