November 12, 2016. Bonding with Lola

LOCATION:  House-sitting in Portland, Oregon WEATHER:  Another bonus day.  Sunny. Highs in 60s   We took the homeowners to the airport for an early flight.  Later in the morning, we checked out nearby Beaverton Farmers' Market.  It is quite popular and has interesting foods.  We bought some Mexican chorizo and some artisan blue cheese dressing.  George talked with the mushroom guy for a long time. This cool, wet climate must be great for mushrooms.

We stopped at the barber shop so George could get a desperately-needed haircut.  He went with a buzz cut as it was the cheapest.  No surprise!  While he was doing that, I got a pneumonia shot.  It really hurts!

In the afternoon, we bonded with our charge Lola.  She is the sweetest cat.  She absolutely LOVES to be brushed.  This perch is her brushing chair.

We can tell she misses the homeowners.  I sat on the couch with her in my lap and read the newest Bill Bryson book to get her used to me again.  We were here last year for 6 weeks, and she bonded with us well.

DINNER:  Home-made mushroom soup.  It was a new recipe and turned out really well.  I'm going to focus on soups while we are here in cool Portland for 3 weeks.

  1. Aww, such fun dealing with the cat. Just like our place, Smudgie loves to be brushed, although she is not a lap cat. You live in interesting times in the United States and we will be watching what happens next. Enjoy your time in Portland...wish we were with you for a brewery tour!
