December 11, 2016. Snowed in and sushi!

LOCATION: Ferndale, Michigan

WEATHER:  Snow, snow, snow!  Highs in 30s

 

We awoke to snow, and it continued all day,  We got about 8 inches.  It is so pretty on the bird feeders and bird bath.

I shoveled a bit.  Raja, the dog, was fascinated by the shovel and tried to "help".  

I haven't shoveled in about 4 years.  As we travel, we generally don't encounter these weather extremes.  Next week, we will be on a sandy beach in the Virgin Islands instead of a winter wonderland.

Meredith wanted to make a sushi dinnner for tonight.  It is our Christmas dinner.  We went to this very authentic Japanese grocery store to buy the ingredients.

The shop also has a tiny sushi restaurat in the back.  Their sushi looked great.

it is a tiny place with loyal customers.

Then, Gautham, George and I went to a bar to watch the football game while Meredith did the sushi prep.  I don't like watching football, but went prepared with my ipad and book.  :-). The bar has a beautiful mural made with beer bottle caps.

Back home, Meredith made a beautiful sushi platter for us.  To die for!

We ate all the delicious rolls and some sashimi.  The fish was very fresh....yellowtail, tuna, salmon and white tuna.    

After dinner, we had Christmas, opening our Christmas gifts.  It was a great evening.
