September 7, 2016. day 2 on the Oxford Canal boat.

LOCATION:  A few miles north of Oxford on the Oxford Canal

WEATHER:  Picture perfect!  Highs in 70s

We had moored last night in front of the pub, along with about 10 other boats.  In these little boating communities, there is generally some space for permanent boat residents and other mooring slots for short-termers like us.  We chatted with other boaters and then took off after a full English breakfast.

We stopped to fill up our water tanks, then started up the river.  This part of the river is very quiet with few boaters.  We passed a lot of fields and jungly terrain, that didn't seem like my perception of England.  We went through 5 locks.

Graham is getting very good at the process.

Our map is not as good as we would like, and we unfortunately missed the pubs we had planned to stop at for lunch.  So, we just moored along the way in a grassy area and enjoyed a picnic lunch.  After a few more hours, we saw a sign for another pub and decided to pull up there for the night.

We are the only ones here along this stretch of the river.  After tying up, we walked into town in search of the pub.

It is a very cute village with lots of thatched roof houses.

We settled in for the night, happily watching another favorite BBC TV show, "To The Manor Born".  We have seen several "manors" on this boat ride.

DINNER:  Pasta in veg sauce, with chicken pieces on the side for the non-vegans.
