WEATHER: Rain, rain, rain. Highs in 50s
We awoke on the canal boat to rain. We were glad we had arrived in Oxford yesterday evening, so we didn't have to do any work outside in the rain this morning.
After tidying up and packing, we walked to the Oxford train station, and took an hour's ride to Birmingham, where we fly from, to Dublin tomorrow. It was an easier option than going back through London.
We arrived in the rain, and ducked into the Shakespeare Pub for lunch. Stratford-on-Avon isn't far away.
We found our hotel, after walking in circles in the rain. It is downtown, near Birmingham's ultramodern shopping mall called The Bullring.
This is the view from our hotel room.
George and I walked over to the mall. It is huge, just like ones in the USA. We strolled through a major department store, Selfridges. We couldn't believe the high prices. $500 for a sweatshirt, $2000 for a designer purse.
For dinner, we walked to the nearby Jamie Oliver restaurant.
George and I split a plate of oxtail lasagne. Very good.
You tried Jamie's here in Adelaide didn't you?
