April 1, 2017. Another day in beautiful Fife

LOCATION:  Housesitting outside of Cupar, Fife, Scotland

WEATHER:  Partly cloudy.  High in 50s

We had planned to make a major road trip today but since the weather is iffy, we thought we should wait until tomorrow which is supposed to be sunny.

When we went out to do morning chicken chores, we discovered this "massacre" that occurred during the night.  Our cats must have tackled one of the large wood pigeons that fly around here.

We went into town, looking for the Saturday Farmers' Market.  Either we missed it or they didn't have it.  Too bad.

Then, we drove to a fruit farm that is about a mile from us.  In addition to selling u-pick fruit and veg in season, they have a huge play area for children with a "mega maze".   I think it quite a tourist attraction in warm weather.  These flowers are everywhere....don't know what variety they are.

Our farm is situated in the middle of huge farmlands.  The farmers are out planting now.  There are some beautiful homes like this nearby....

Back home, we had a nice phone conversation with friends from Nova Scotia.    DINNER:  Grilled porkchops.  In another unsupervised moment at the grocery a few days ago, George bought some Stilton cheese.  Since we only have a few days left, I thought I should use it up.  I made a brown sauce (Scottish term) with Stilton and served it with the pork.  Very nice.

  1. Those flowers in the pots are primrose! One of the first to bloom in the spring in the U.K. Enjoy!
